Instrument Repairs, Restoration & Setup in peterborough

Instrument Repair

We undertake all stringed instrument repair and setup including all types of guitar, mandolin and banjo.
Private tuition is also available for these instruments.

Our experience of making a variety of instruments puts us in a particularly good position to undertake all forms of instrument repair and restoration. No job is too small or too large. We are commonly asked to repair damaged guitar fronts, setup guitar and mandolin necks, undertake re-binding of old instruments as well as modify instruments' actions and re-dress worn frets. It is interesting that factory produced instruments, including Fender, Martin and Gibson are set up to a factory standard which is often too high for most individual players. We therefore undertake work to reduce nut height, saddle height and properly dress the frets for a perfect and comfortable playing experience. We are not just technical makers, we are instrument players and teachers too, and understand that different players require different setups.

Prices for repair and restoration are, of course, varied depending on what is required. For example to reduce a nut and bone saddle with partial fret re-dress is approx £80. So it isn't expensive to get your instrument playing beautifully. How we decide to set up the instrument is through consultation with the customer and by watching his or her playing styles.
